Here's a good article on acclimation: Part1: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2006/1/aafeature2/ Part2: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2006/3/aafeature1/
I have finally gotten the swing of using a quarantine tank, non to soon. I can see now why it is so beneficial. My quarantine tank is a 20 gallon with an Emperor Bio Wheel filter, heater, and Aqua Clear power head. I am also running a canister filter with Carbon, Ammonia and Nitrate media in the three different chambers. I didn't originally have any substrate in the bottom but have since added a mix of sand and crushed coral. I have done a 40% water change everyday since last Thursday and will start doing the water change with water from the main tank tomorrow to acclimate them to that water. I reasoned my way out of using a quarantine tank for years but after watching fish have such a hard time acclimating directly to my tank I will always use a quarantine tank now.
