I have an 80 gal hex with stand, canopy, and wooden frame for sale, for $250.

  2. You may be able to sell it at the meeting in Hot Springs next month.

A few questions for you........ have you sold the tank yet? What are the dimensions of the tank? What size lights (i.e. 36"?) were used and is it drilled or was the fuge a hang-on? I'm assuming not since I believe you said it was a 30g.

Just let me know, I think I may have the perfect place for it.

Thanks! Maybe we can work on picking that stuff up this weekend or next if our schedules line up. If not, we can always wait until the meeting on the 19th [IMG] but I'm getting ancy (it's going to be a Volcano Tank......don't ask) and I'm sure you'd like to get some of that rock out of your trash can!

    Thanks Again,

    Tracy (cardoc's wife)

Well, Bill says it's going to have to be next weekend for the pick-up....[IMG].....we are booked solid out in the shop and there will be no way we can get out of here tomorrow, especially being Friday. We will have people showing up well into the evening picking up their vehicles. For some reason, people are very anal about having their cars back before the weekends........go figure..[IMG]. Oh well, I'll live. Okay. The 'Volcano' tank. I've been doing alot of research on water flow and such on such a deep tank (i.e. the hex) and because of the realatively low surface area as compared to the depth, it seems like it will be difficult to get the water circulating in such a way that it doesn't just end up going 'round and 'round like a whirlpool. I'll be putting power heads near the bottom pointing up (to start) and see how that goes. While looking at power heads, I came across some lighted areators. I really thought they were cheesy at first. They come in red, blue and green and who wants their tank to look green on PURPOSE!!!!!! But Bill and I got to talking and said that with the right aquascaping, the red could actually look like an erupting volcano! Black sand for the substrate (maybe), rockwork wide at the bottom decreasing toward the top, the red areator hidden in the middle so that the bubbles come out the top (tinted red) with the red light peeking out of all the tiny crevices of the rocks that make up the total structure.......it should make it look like flowing lava (in theory anyway). All of that makes up the perfect backround for my Clown Trigger...or Picasso Trigger.....or Niger Trigger or whichever daunting, exotic looking predators I decide I want. [IMG]. Now I just have to research compatability on the predator species' to see what I can put with what. I want people to be scared to even go NEAR it but not be able to take their eyes off of it [IMG]. I think it will be a bit off the beatin' path but I think it will (hopefully) turn out amazing!!!!

    P. S. Maybe I should copyright this idea so no one beats me to it ???? [IMG]

That does sound cool, I'll have to see this when it's set up.
As far as getting flow in that type tank it's really not that bad, I had a PH blowing accross the top for areation and another blowing from right to left or clockwise close to the top and pointing slightly down, this would sent the water swirling down kinda like a toilet bowl effect. and I placed the rock work so that a lot of flow was devirted from the center, that's were I keep the corals that didn't like much flow. but sounds like you have a plan.
