Well I bit the bullet this morning and met Chris at Lowe's with what had to be a padded materials list......WOW............Chris had figured the list down to the last piece of trim and hinges. The stand and canopy will be stained english walnut with antique gold and ivory door hardware. Also it will feature decorative colums on all four corners. I'm hoping he will start a thread with the pictures of the build. This should be a beautifull stand and canopy when he finishes. I hope he dosen't scratch his fingers this time , he's off to a good start with a monster 1/8 " splinter while loading the wood. Thanks again Chris.
Got started on the hoods today. They are built in two sections with the doors offset on each so that there is a 7 inch face on either end and in the middle where they join. The doors are different than I have ever done before with a L shape so that you can get down into Normans very deep tank. There will be doors on either end to access the filter screens that are in the tank.
The only woodwork lift to do on the hoods is to put the crown on which I will try and get done in the next couple of days. I had hoped to wait to get pictures untill it is done but by boss gets impatient so I am posting before it is done. Next up will be sanding which I love to do so much and then staining once the panels are completed for the stand.
This is going to be your nicest yet I think (except mine...of course ). I saw the pillars at normans and this is going to be one awesome looking stand and hood!
I have completed the woodworking part of the hoods - the trim was a real mother. It will be a while before I post some more pictures with Reef Fest coming up this weekend and Thanksgiving there after. The panels for the stand should be pretty straight forward - I hope.
