Glad to see you decided to give it another shot, it can be tough at first getting everything set-up and doing good, but can also be very rewarding. hang in there, I'm in Hot Springs so if you run into problems or need some help just let me know.

My biggest problem so far is hair algae. I have recently added a phosphate remover. I use Hot Springs City water with a dechlorinator of coure. I have been told that I would benifit with the use of a water deionizer I just do not have the funds yet.

Your best bet would be to use DI water, invest in a good ro/di unit and eventually your algae problem should go away, The city water still has a lot of TDS in it that will cause algae to grow, I think Marine World is now using Hot Springs water and I've noticed his tanks have a lot more algea now. I use the Typhoon III from Air Water and Ice, there about $200 and a really good unit, comes with a TDS meter.

Yea just google air water and ice ro units and you should find it.
Another thing that helps algae grow is nitrate, so if you can get your nitrates close to 0 alone with 0 on TDS you should not have any problems with algae. The easiest way to do that is a refugim, that might be something to look at in the future.
