    I've been
working on my tank build for a while now and am close to done with my new system!!

The system is designed to hold my big nasty predator fish in the main display, while keeping seahorses and my feather sea lilly starfish in the refugium.  Along with a 20 gallon tank that can be easily cut off the main system and put on its own system for quarenting new fish, or just to get new fish eating well before they go in the main tank.

I just drilled the 100g tank and am building the overflow box on it tomorrow, so at this point I can still change any thing that I might have missed that anyone sees will come to bite me in the ass later on.

I have 90 lbs of sand in the main tank.  25 lbs in the acclimation tank, and 50 lbs of very fine sand in the refugium.  With a rough estimate of a about 150 lbs or live rock scattered through out the entire system.

The skimmer is rated for 250 gallons, with the return pump using roughtly 50gph on the refugium, 150gph on the acclimation tank, leaving about 600-700gph for the main display tank when you add in head hight.

Oh and I am soft plumbing the entire system, so there will not be any 90 degree elbows anywhere in the system at all if I can help it.

Cleaning up the sump, so I can change where the baffles are

My first attempt at truly messing with silicone, so far so good!

Drilling the refugium, which is a 20g marineland half moon tank

Drilling the hundred gallon display tank, and even after lots of practice my heart was still pounding a bit.

Then I calmed down a bit and had some fun : )

Basically I'm doing small water changes on my 50 gallon tank and using the old water to slowly fill the larger system so it will be less stress on my fish when I transfer everything over.  So I currently have the sump, the refugium and the acclimation tank up and running. However with this strategy comes quite a mess haha

I do not think a mag 12 will be strong enough.

If I was doing a reef tank I might think of upgrading but with just fish only it should be more than enough overturn.

Aw dude that's more that enough. By the time you get done calculating the gph at the head your looking at 900 or very close to 1000.

Finally figured out how I wanted the overflow box, using two 1/4 inch pieces of glass siliconed together with black paint between them so the paint will never touch my water.

Got the refugium up and going with a hundred gallons of flow and the marineland led and a 9 watt 6500 refugium light to grow some nice macro algea hopefully
    [IMG]

Sump up and running on just the refugium and the 20 gallon acclimation tank to hold live rock and hopefully help my water quality stay where it needs to be when I move everything from my 55 to the 100

Messing with my new True Lumen Pro LED lights, that will be built into the canopy.  Cost a pretty penny, but oh are they worth it!!!!

haha, the eel pretty much lives in the skull now, and he is a 5 inch maroon clown so I'm not quite worried yet, however my harlequin tusk will be going in a different tank for a little while till he out grows my lionfish's mouth!

He only leaves his anem to come eat now : )

haha, its an aligator skull from walmart : )  My roommate has a human skull in his tank for his skeletor eel, and were trying to get soething fake and corny in our other roommates tank but he keeps  refusing.

Also I got the tank background on, and the tank on the stand with some new sand and a bit of water in it to let the sand settle.  I plan on moving everything over tomorrow!!!

I decided to not stain the stand to match the canopy since it will be behind the couch, and I was a little impatientce at the time : )  and the canopy is still waiting for me to install the led lights before I put it on the stand.  Other than that I just need to get the overflow kit put in and fill it up!
