Every time that I buy new bulbs for my fixture I keep the old bulbs just in case I break some of the new ones. Since I just bought some new bulbs, I have some old ones to give away. This gives you a chance to try out some different ATI bulbs so you can find the combo that works best for you. I'll try to get a list of what I have tomorrow.

I have 4 Aqua Blue Special (ABS), 2 Blue Plus (B+), and 2 Purple Plus (P+). When my new bulbs come in and I start replacing them then I will have more bulbs available. 3 B+, 1 ABS, 1 P+, 1 True Actinic.

If I didn't have already some kessil LEDs I'd totally take you up on that!

very interested. I have a 4 bulb system on the 55. Wanting to see what some bluer bulbs do to the color.

Thank you. I remember how intimidated and clueless when I was trying to find the right combo. I googled it and to be honest, I didn't like the look but i didn't know better. I still play around with color combos but I am close to finding the right one for me.

I hear you! I'm just adjusting LEDs but I'm still not liking the complete program. I guess I've got my whites on too high in the early afternoon because everything starts looking washed out and brown.

Are the whites necessary or can I keep it bluer?

  10. It seems the more people play with different light sources and spectrums the more success we have with different combos. Because LEDs have a narrow wavelength for each individual color, it makes since that you need 'some' of the white. This way, you hit the 500-600 wavelength range. Probably could turn the white way down to be honest.

It reminds me of diving. 10ft down it's almost like whites only channel. 20ft down is probably 16k-20k. And depending on the time of day, 30-40ft down is getting pretty blue. The problem is human eyes arnt great at picking exact colors.

Side note, many people keep their tanks around 80 degrees. That's hot! While the surface temp may be 80-83, it's more like 76-77 degrees 20 ft down. Give or take global warming, Al Gore, and Man-Bear-Pig.

I'll have to play with the lights and see what I can come up with. I don't have any sort of meter or anything that tells me the color temp ... just the percents listed in Apex for the Kessils. I don't think I can adjust each color individually, I think it's more of a 100%=white and 0%=blue type thing. My tank fluctuates between 76.9-77.6. Hopefully that's ideal for most of my inhabitants.

Yes they are the bulbs that go in the 48 inch T-5 fixtures.

I would like to try some of them if you still have them available.
