Starting up my 28 gal bowfront. Thought I would snap a day one pic with nothing but live rock.

    Hiya,

Could stand to watch the club corals go by anymore without a place to put them huh? that was about the size of my very first tank.

    Hiya,

I know...still need to post some pictures. Nothing really to look at, but sand and rock. Ammonia is way up there, so the cycle is on it's way. Though, it's been so long since I cycled a tank, I can't remember what comes next ::grin::

    Hiya,

Ammonia has started to come down, but I'm not seeing my Nitrates going up yet. Looks like the tank won't be cycled before the meeting Saturday.

Nitrites should rise as ammonia goes down. As nitrites go down nitrates will rise. As soon as nitrites get down to zero I do a big water change to get the nitrates down a little.

    Hiya,

Yeap, we've reached the ugly stage of cycling. The tank looked clean the other day, when I turned the lights out last night, there was algae and diatoms all over. Today, I had 0.25 nitrites. CUC goes in after the nitrates go down right?

    Hiya,

Okay, the tank is running hot. I put a thermometer in there the other day and it's in the lower 90's. What can I do to bring the temp down? Started seeing some Nitrates the other day, but there's still ammonia.

I cut a hole in the hood with a hole saw and put a 12-volt PC fan hooked up to a HVAC controller off of Amazon to keep my tank cool.

Hmmm...considering I'm not good with tools, I'll need to find another way.

    Hiya,

Well, finished cycling! Everything was zero today, so went ahead did a water change and picked up some snails. It's sill going to look ugly for the meeting.
