Anyone need chaeto?

I'd love some but have to work next weekend.
Maybe next time.

 

I’ll take a small chunk. The piece I have has barely grown in many months ... I know there is enough nutrient because I’ve got hair algae everywhere ... don’t know if I’ve got some weird slow growing strain or doing something wrong. Couldn't hurt to try adding some from a different source, could it?

 

I have a magnet Refugium light with white lights and was using random grow light (with red and blue lights) and even bought the Kessil H80 with all the grow settings to replace the random one.

 

I bought a led grow light off the net for like $60. Grows the crap out of the stuff.

 

I have my gfo output flowing in there and aim it all around here and there to keep things stirred up and filtered out. It doesn’t tumble but the water is circulated well.

 

So I just got a small bit from a friend. Totally different than what I have! His was super fine and mine is thick and wiry! Look at the difference. He is constantly pulling out excess chaeto and I have yet to harvest any in probably 10 months!

That’s not my full amount, just a bit I pulled out to compare. This is a pretty small amount. That clump is probably the size of my palm.

 

I use a 5$ growbulb from home depot. works fine

Yes, thanks!! Yours is somewhere between the 2 posted above and a much lighter green. I’ll let you know how they all do.

I also shared a coral cup stuffed full with Kim so hopefully she can start to get those nitrates down.

 

I could use some. Maybe I can make it to the January meeting.
