The tank has arrived. I've been putting together the plumbing plan. Trying to keep it simple. Hopefully can put water in it tomorrow. Thanks in advance to Fredi, Aaron, and Corey for their help carrying it in tomorrow afternoon.
We put it in today. Thanks so much to Corey, Fredi, and Aaron! The huge tank is in the house and looks like it was plumbed by a master.
By the way after seeing the BRS Video on ESV Seawater, I made the switch. This mixed up so quick. The mix has 4 components, salt, magnesium, and 2 part. It comes with measuring spoons but definitely could have used a beaker to get exact measurements of the 2 part. When it calls for 78mls of something. Anyway, it is the cleanest salt made and mixed up to good parameters.
I added some equipment today. I've added an Auto Aqua Smart ATO for my ATO. I'm using a 20 gallon Brute as my reservoir. I plumbed a Pentair UV sterilizer from the sump to the display. I've also added two more AI hydra 26s. So now have one Hydra 52 and four Hydra 26s. This is providing much better coverage. I still had brought the calcium reactor on. But I plan to get it going over the next couple weeks. This guy was available at the Fish Tank yesterday. I love radiant wrasses but haven't seen one available in a while.
I lost the lavender tang, but replaced it with a Bariene tang. He is too camera shy for a pic, but I can't wait for him to color up. I've also added a few SPS frags. I'm hoping they all take off like Aaron's. 15 New frags include: Walt Disney acro WWC yellow tip Reef Raft Canada pink caddilac Oregon tort Battke Corals jezebal Battle Corals Secale Red setosa POTO Blue Thunder Reef Raft USA Pink Floyd WWC Pantera Rosa Battle Corals Brain Candy table FHC Blue Thing Tyree Ultimate Blue Stag FHC Purple Bonsai WWC Sunfire Cap
I did my first water change today on the tank. 40g this time. I really like how clean the ESV salt is and how quickly it mixes. It is mixed in 4 parts (Two salts and two liquids).
I've also added a Pentair uv sterilizer and the autoaqua smart ATO. I haven't hooked up the calcium reactor yet. But I will soon. I have a Korallin C3002 reactor and will feed it with a Kamoer continuous duty peristaltic pump. I'm wanting to maintain ultra stable water chemistry.
I didn't know you could mount your UV vertically! That would have given me some more options had I known. I take it the bottom tubing is carrying water to the UV and the top one back to the sump?
Yes. Vertical was the way they were installed in all the BRS videos. I have a manifold but plumbed it with its own return pump so I could easily control flow with a dc pump
