I bought this 12 g JBJ nano cube from Paradise Pets in Benton. It is a great little tank. I got some live rock from them and The Fish Tank in Little Rock. I attached an DIY fuge and loaded it with Macros like Chaeto, C. prolifera and others. I have mostly softies and one Monti.
Thank you, Greg. I filled it with water in August of 2012. I got my first little bitty frags one and a half months later. My savings account has suffered ever since!
Here is a video of the fuge. There are a few rescue fish in there which will be moving out soon.
Thank you, John. I have been practicing every day. I got a new-to-me camera a month ago for my birthday. This hobby makes you want to document everything in the best way you can. The corals are so beautiful that you want to have pictures that get as close as possible to reality.
In an effort to catch the wily Blue Neon Goby, Zag, in the fuge I had to remove the macros, live rocks and down spout from the fuge. I took some of the water out in which to store the macros and caught the little slippery fella. I only have an inch or less of sand in the fuge so I decided to stir it up and siphon it out to do a water change and OMG the filth! The thick gray sediment was unbelievable in such a small amount of sand. I removed some of it, not all. I am afraid of removing too much bacteria if I try to get it too clean too fast. This, my friends, is why I wear gloves or use tongs to move rocks and frags around in my tank.
Hiya, Nasty little bristle worm you found there! Good thing you were wearing gloves. I'm one of those idiots who feel nothing is ever going to get them while working on their tank. Kim/Benton, AR
Hiya, Kim. I am glad it is there to eat detritus but I do not like the idea of it wriggling around my fingers! Ewww!
Should've seen the one that came out of Janet Fox's mother inlaws tank. It was a eunicid worm that was 2 foot long.
A brief update on MyAtlantis. all the corals and fish are doing very well recently. The water is crystal clear with the new carbon bag. The dKH remains stable at 8.5. the pH is still on the low side so I have a CO2 scrubber in the works. The macros in the fuge are growing nicely. I transferred all the Lettuce nudis into the nano fuge. The one nudi in the nano fuge was staying fat and plump while the ones in the macro grow-out tank were getting smaller. I think the nutrients in the nano helps grow the kind of algae they like to eat. Plus they are partially photosynthetic as well and the light in the nano fuge is better than in the macro grow out tank. Here are some pictures from today. FTS Skipper is making himself comfortable. Thank you, John. I wish the channel or arch running through the middle would show up in the pictures. I will have to upload a video and it will show the rockscape off a little better.
