The place I mentioned at the meeting is www.aquariumwatertesting.com. The cost is $39.95 for the full panel of tests which I think is pretty reasonable, compared to the price of multiple test kits unless your testing frequently.

Hey John, I took your advice and sent my water off to be professionaly tested at Aquarium Water Testing. I thought it would be interesting to show their results compared to the results I get with my API testing kit, Red Sea testing Kits and Hanna phosphate checker.

-------------------Red Sea testing--------Aquarium Water Testing---------Acceptable Range
    Alkalinity----------- 9.8 dkh--------------------- 9.52 dkh------------------------ (7-14)
    Calcium------------440 ppm---------------------430 ppm-----------------------(350-450)
    Magnesium--------1420 ppm--------------------1563 ppm--------------------(1100-1400)
Potassium--------undetectable-------------------276 ppm----------------------(350-450)------------Red Sea does not read below 320ppm
    Iodine--------------0.9 ppm-----------------------0.4 ppm-----------------------(0.3-0.9)
    --------------------API Testing
    Ammonia-----------0 ppm-------------------------0 ppm------------------------(0.0-0.05)
    Nitrite---------------0 ppm-------------------------0 ppm-------------------------(0.0-0.1)
    Nitrate--------------0 ppm------------------------0.7 ppm------------------------(0.0-25)
    -------------------Hanna checker
    Phosphate-----------0 ppm------------------------0 ppm------------------------(0.0-0.25)
What was a suprise to me where the results of my Silica 1.3 (0.0-0.5) and my Copper 0.05 (0.0-0.03) being this high. I guess I need to change my R/O membrane and deionization resin. Even though my TDS meter reads 0. Also, I'm going to start dosing Potassium.

Thanks for posting that Corey. Great to see the Hanna Phosphate checker was spot on. I was also encouraged how close almost all the other tests were. Really the only one that wasn't very close was the Mg.

I think I'll do that and compare to my Salifert tests/Hanna Phosphate checker. If I do I'll post it here also.

    Hiya,

John are you still using these guys to spot check your water? I noticed the price when up $5 from when you started this thread last year. Is there another company that does water testing?
