And no more Walt Smith live rock either (I believe that's where his facility is). As I understand it, the ban is for a year and then will be re-evaluated. Not clear what it will mean for coral farming/maricultured corals.

    Hiya,

I saw this article on facebook the other day and was wondering if it was true or not.

A lot of fish and corals come from Fiji. This means prices are going to go up on certain things. If fiji drops out, that means there is going to be bigger demands on indonesian and aussie corals.

From what I heard it’s mainly about live rock. They are blasting out sections of reef with dynamite and collecting the rock. But coral is included in the ban as well.

Didn't know about the blasting part.

Looks like we won't see much from Fiji anymore.

Sucks for the hobby but good to let the ocean recover from people blowing it up!
