Hello everybody, nice to see so many Reefers in Arkansas!
im in hot springs, older than the mountains younger than Dirt... Been involved with fish and such since way back in '75. Owned an Aquarium shop for 8 yrs or so, i have a Good understanding of closed systems in general. However the reef tank has been a real challenge, a lot has changed in tha last 10 years, its been 15 or so since ive had a setup of any type, so ive had to brush up on my chemistry to say the least... so at the moment i have an 60 gal cube with fish and a 14 gal nano cube with some of everything lol , working on a 125 and a frag tank. ill post pics later. just wanted to say hello for now...
I had the pleasure of meeting ReefMann and his wife at NSA sunday, very nice couple indeed, thanks for sharing your thoughts Reefmann, to a perfect stranger... nice chat!
Looking forward to trading stories and corals with everyone!

    Madcat,
Welcome to the forum. I hope you will be a regular in our many and sometimes heated discussions about this fascinating hobby. Like you I also have been in the hobby since the 70's and have owned two pet stores. Things have changed a lot in the last 10-15 yrs, and we are all constantly learning new things and methods. Good luck with your systems and I look forward to meeting you on Sat. at Paradise Pets.

    Hey everyone,

My names Ray and I'm in NWA. We (family tank) had a softie tank, 55g with PC lights, for several years. This year, we bumped up to a 90g with MH and have started to aquire SPS and LPS...ohh and a clam [IMG] We've got quite a few frags (rack is full) and at this point are just watching things grow. I enjoy reading the post here on RRMAS and checking out pics of everyones setups.

  7. Ray welcome !!!

Greg in Bryant here, just have a 24 nano in salt, also have 150 co2 Discus and 12 nano crystal bee shrimp tanks. Planning the reef now and in no rush. Have not been in salt in years so I am way behind times, use to buy marine from Lynn in Hot Springs at his house when he was still a teacher and I was in High School. If anyone remembers when Pier1 on University had fish, I was the fish guy. So now you know I am old. Well that's my hello, as soon as I figure out how to post pics I will and yes I read the instructions.

Funny you should mention Pier one in LR. I set up the original fish department for them and ran it for a while. That sure does bring back some memories from the way past. I'm talking 70's. Don't believe we even had saltwater when we first set it up. Look forward to talking to you more about it.
Welcome to the club and the forums. I know you will enjoy this group. We have a lot of fun. Hope to see you in Searcy on the 20th

    Hi Fellow Hobbyist!
Capthlp (aka Geo) President & Membership Chair of the Dallas Marine Aquarium Society, your neighbors in Dallas.  I became aware of your group by chatting with your President (Chris) and working on getting him to come and speak to our group.
I am very impressed with your website and forum and I congratulate you all on being recognized by the reefing community.  It is very evident, form my initial navigation around your forum that you all are sincere about your involvement in this hobby and your desire to share that knowledge and experience to help your members and guest be successful.  DallasMAS has those same goals and desires.
I did not come here to promote our group but I hope that our groups can form a relationship and I will work (If you wish) to introduce your group to our members.  I firmly believe that groups such as ours should work together to promote our hobby and more importantly the proper care of fish and corals in general.  Who knows, maybe some time in the future we can even consider hosting an event together in support of that goal.
I appreciate the opportunity to be a member of your forum and look forward to sharing knowledge, experience and even some "fish" stories along the way.
A big "Thumbs Up" to your webmaster, site developers and contributors.  I am really impressed with the design and features, Great Job!!
I hope all your Members and Guest have a Safe and Happy Holiday Season!
    Best Regards,
    Geo

    Geo,
Welcome to the forums. I too would like to see us do a combined event in the future. I have attended some of your events in the past and plan to be at the Next Wave/ CFM in Feb. Maybe we can have some time for a discussion with a few of our members and yours. We are a very active and growing club with a great bunch of members. I'm sure we can benefit from your input on our forums. Glad to have you with us and hope to meet you soon,

    Norman,
Thank you for the welcome.  Please don't confuse DallasMAS with DFWMAS the group that hosts Next Wave.  Many of us are members of that organization also but formed DallasMAS to? cater to the hobbyist on the East side of the Dallas metroplex.  While we wanted to organize the East end of town we are also open to members from all across the metroplex.
It would be great to meet you all while you are here in town.
    Thanks,

You know what? I knew that but just had an old age moment. Thanks for the correction and I'm sure we can get together when we are down your way.
