Ya I fully get you on the cost of the radions etc and maybe one day Ill jump into a calcium reactor Lol. Your tank build looked awesome. Ive only been putting fish in the 220 going to wait awhile on the coral. Still have alittle algae problem and a little red slime but I knew that would happen on a new tank. Going to let it mature a bit and everything should go away. Where you located at.

Ya if my demand or if I ever decide to go sps dominate tank I’ll probably have to get one myself Lol

Thank you very much. I am located in Austin,AR. Yeah those algae issues will clear up with time and consistent husbandry. What kind of coral and look are you going for in your system? I like sps but I really love the lps and some soft corals too. I really wish I had left more room on the bottom between the rockscape and the glass to place more of them. Mistakes I wont make on my next upgrade..lol

Lol never enough space. I really don’t know I usually have mixed reefs. I did just put some GSP on a rock by itself to see how it reacts to the tank it opened right up. So its coming along lol

That a good start. I am sure other corals will be just fine in there but waiting for the system to stabilize a bit more is a smart idea.

It's the most challenging part ..lol

Yes it is pretty much fully stocked. I really dont have much room to add anything else without giving things room to grow. I was able to put corals in it about 3 months after set up. Everything thas been doing great. I did loose I think one or two small pieces due to my chiller leaking freon when spring came but I got that thing ripped out of there and everything bounced back pretty well and taking off again.

Well that’s good. I don’t run a chiller but have a dedicated room air conditioner in tank room lol. You have a current pic of your tank

Yeah that's actually a great idea...I keep my house freezing cold anyways but I still need to get a chiller in case power or a.c. goes out I can run the tank from a generator. Probable going to get a coil chiller this time instead of an inline. Those things are like $1300 for a good one though. For now I just put a fan over my sump controlled by the apex. Works fine for the time being. I do have some current pictures. I will get some posted up on my build thread today. I have been meaning to update things for the longest time anyways.

Ya I forgot you are running MH only thing bad about running them a lot of heat. I was running MH on my 75 before heat was challenging in the summer, but winter time I didn’t need heaters lol

Yeah I definitely have my heaters shut off right now. Luckily it's not too bad with an open top though. Do your LEDs put out much heat? What fixture are you running?

No leds put off hardly any heat that’s one reason I gave them a try. On the 75 I have maxspect razor lights don’t really like them to much but got them cheap lol I did put 2 t5s on them also. On the 220 I bought reefbreeders photon v2 because like you I didn’t want to spend 2500 on radions Lol. Only coral I have in there is the GSP and just put it in there but they opened up and look really good atm atleast. Only have the lights on 60% at the moment seems to be plenty of light for it since its not stretching. When I did par test at 100% all blues and I believe 20% on whites I was getting around 150 par at bottom and my tank is 30” deep so not to bad but we will see

That gsp looks happy to me! 150 par on the bottom of 30 inches is great! That should definitely be able to take care of anything you want to throw in there. Do you have anything in mind for what you will put in there next when you are ready? I am sure anything will most likely do well in there. But it is wise to wait just a bit to make sure a rogue wave of hair algae or red slime doesnt sweep across it.

Ya im taking it slow Lol I have some red slime already going to wait awhile I know when everything gets established it should go away. Don’t want to does anything right now to try to rid it quick. To me it seems to come back anyway. I will probably try some acros in there definitely some Lps im going to try to keep the softies out lol. We will see Lol. Im still planning on adding more fish I want a purple tang and a kohle eye for sure. I have a foxface and a powder blue in there right now. Plus other fish I think I have 9 in there atm.

Yeah the red slime will eventually stop or tone down to very little. It may linger for a bit in small amounts but I agree. Quick fixes are never a good idea in the long run. Softies can take over that tank quick..lol
