Those readings aren't from probes. I use the log feature on Apex to keep track of my parameters. You should have it on your Apex if your software is up to date. Are probes for Alk, Ca available for Apex? I know salinity is an option and ORP.
Not that I know of Coral vue now has the dKH guardian but its expensive and regulates your alk http://www.coralvue.com/kh-guardian-pro
I have 2 of these and I love them!!! Their tentacles get huge!!! They are fun to feed too. No clue how fast they grow but I have 2 separate ones. Both have a huge head surrounded by small ones. One has 2 small ones and the other has like 6-8 around the base. I hope you like it!!
Seems like everyone is building mixing stations. I got my tanks last week from Tractor Supply and picked up the industrial shelving this week (on sale as a display for $100). I plan to plumb two lines to under the sink in the man cave. One for new salt water and one for RO/DI to fill the ATO reservoir. I'll have barbed fittings to connect to flexible tubing for each.
Those are 35 gallons. I'm going install my float valve on the RO/DI tank at 30 gallons which is a pretty good number for a water change for my tank.
Ordered my pipe in furniture grade and half black and half red. I think I'll run the RO/DI in red and the saltwater in black. My runs will be about 25 feet any recommendation on an external pump? Panworld? Iwaki?
What is furniture grade pipe?! And are you hooking the station directly to the tank for ATO and water changes? How far away is the tank?
Furniture grade PVC is actually what it sounds like. It's used by DIY folks to actually make furniture. It has no markings on it and has a more shiny finish. It also is available in all kinds of colors. BRS sells it but they're really high on that. Home Depot sells it on line...colors available include yellow, purple, green, red, blue, black, orange and of course white. I didn't explain it very well. I can't run it all the way to my tank because the tank sits against concrete wall with about 6 feet of dirt behind it. I'm not gonna crawl under the house and dig a 20' trench that's 6' deep although if I could find a way to do it other than by hand I'd consider it. The plumbing will end under the sink that's in the room where the tank is and I'll have barbed fittings and soft tubing to connect to them when I'm filling the ATO or doing a water change.
Got most of what I need (except for my pump) today. Some preliminary dry fitting. The tanks won't be quite that close together. There will be two valves as close as possible to that center T.
It will : 1) pump water from one tank to the other. 2) pump ATO water to the tank 3) pump new salt water to the tank 4) circulate water in the saltwater tank for mixing.
Well it's not all peaches and cream. Two days ago my Apex went kaput. I've got extension cords everywhere. I've tried for 2 nights (till 1am each night) to get it back up to no avail. Have an appointment with the Neptune guys Monday night to try and figure out what's up. I've been dosing manually when I get home but this sucks as my alkalinity is swinging about 0.6 dKh every 24 hours. Got a timer and will dose alkalinity 8 times a day with it (every 3 hours). I'll just continue to dose calcium manually. Fingers crossed. My Apex is over 4 years old but I really, really don't want to buy another one!
That completely sucks! So I don't understand how that pump will do all of that. Doesn't the water have to go through the pump?
Yeah, the water has to go through the pump. Hopefully if I design it right the plumbing/valves will direct the water to where I want it to go. I'll post some pictures after the plumbing is done that will hopefully make it more clear.
