How long have you had him Brian? My watchman is almost always out, sitting at the opening of his burrow. The shrimp....not so much. See him every few days but it's usually when I feed and the lights are on.

I bet he gets more visible over time! Beautiful and very interesting fish!

I purchased the pair about four months ago. For the first month, I had to wonder if they just dissapeared. For the last two months, the watchman always comes out at feeding time, sometimes actually darting away from his hole to get some food, and darting right back. It has not been till this last week that I have seen more than a brief glimpse of crabman. To see him come out and eat with the lights on is completely new to me. The pair are just perfect together, and I love the coloring on the crab.

Yeah, that's a Tiger Pistol Shrimp. They can get pretty large compared to the Randal's pistol shrimp. Do they have more than one hole they come out of?

They have four, though the move the sand around to keep them invisible except for a small gap. I think they must have a larger burrow under there

The big gobe on the other side of the tank, made a cavern all the way to the bottom of the tank, under the rocks, and then spit sand all around it like a mountain range

Yeah, that is a big ol’ shrimp! That claw is a bit daunting!
