I will be in Boston on the 23 and the Boston Reefers are having an auction that weekend. The unique aspect of this is their members donate everything to be auctioned frags, fish, equipment with the money going to the club. I think we should do this, what a great fundraiser.
Attended the event today; WOW we need to do one of these. So basically everyone donated frags to colonies to equipment all for a fundraiser for the club and my guess is the took in between 3-4k. Only a few corals were high dollar example a Jason Fox Halloween or something like that went for $80, I bought only acros and the most expensive awesome blue frag was $65, but other colonies I got for $35, 3 heads of green Duncan went for 5, zoas seemed to be a favorite commanding high dollar. Equipment was all but free, apparently they are all on LEDs so whole MH systems were going for $5 and the sold new bulbs for a buck. Anyway the point I am making is the club had fun and made money. The members were very generous to the club and the bidding was all in fun.
