I have a 60 gallon tank that has been a holding tank for my 125 gallon tank while it has been going through major issues that were identified and addressed during our clubs last meeting (I had a brass Tee fitting that was leaking copper and zinc into the tank and killing anything I tried to add to the tank). My plan is to move the majority of the tank inhabitants to the 125 gallon and make it a LPS/SPS dominant tank. While keeping the 60 gallon as a soft coral / semi aggressive tank. I wanted to get the club's opinion on what fish I should move to the 125 gallon tank and what should I keep in the 60 gallon. Now no judgement on the fish that I have these are all from tanks that other reefers were taking down. Also the fish I do decide to move over to the 125 Gallon I will go slowly and cautiously. 2 X Bonded Designer Clowns Yellow Tang 2 X Engineer Gobys Scooter Blenny Melanurus Wrasse Niger Trigger Purple Dottyback Six Line Wrasse 2 Ocellaris Clownfish Yellowtail Dameslfish
The wrasse, the yellow tang and the trigger definitely need the bigger tank. I would also split up the clowns or move both pair to the bigger tank, unlikely to do well long term in a 60 with both pairs.
Based off of the feedback I am thinking: What do you all think? 125 Gallon - 2 X Bonded Designer Clowns - Yellow Tang - Melanurus Wrasse - Niger Trigger - Purple Dottyback - Six Line Wrasse 60 Gallon - 2 X Engineer Gobys - Scooter Blenny - 2 X Ocellaris Clownfish - Yellowtail Dameslfish
I would keep the six line in the 60! Longterm he will likely not tolerate another wrasse and he's best suited for the smaller tank. Sorry, didn't notice the sixline first time through.
I like the idea of the six line as a utilitarian fish to clean pests around the sps corals do you think the melanurus would do the same as the six line? If not is there another fish/invert that would fit with melanurus that could help with possible sps pests in the 125?
I think they're pretty comparable in pest control. The main thing they will prevent/ eliminate would be flatworms.
