Who here has a nano reef!!!!.......I know some of you do!! Post something you find to be the most difficult about keeping a nano system and also try posting the most rewarding or your favorite thing about keeping a nano!
I think the hardest thing is room for equipment. I have a 10 gallon IM Fusion which I guess is technically a pico. Between heater and return pump theirs not much room for anything else, although I did set up an ATO on it a few months ago. Video from yesterday. Feeding time.
The most difficult thing I had to deal with my nano is when it filled out. The consumption rates required a doser otherwise, water parameters get out of whack very quickly. My tank was predominant softies but my DKH would drop 1.2 dkh a day. You forget one or two days and things become real unhappy fast. The best thing about nanos is compared to large systems, they fill out faster and they look fantastic.
I had one for a while. It’s just so difficult to keep stable. My favorite was the little things that normally get lost in a big tank.
Couldn't agree more. It's like the difference in flying a fighter jet and Cessna 180. Big tanks are much more stable. I've limited mine to LPS (duncan which is growing well) and zoas. I have to do at least weekly water changes. I remember yours Bo, it was amazing! It was an IM Fusion 10 or 20 wasn't it?
