Most of the less expensive ones I've seen aren't actually made for the application. This one seems to be. For that price you've got little to lose. If it's quiet and lasts you are way ahead of the game!
I tested it last night and it is more silent than the little pump in my nano cube! JOY!! Now we will just see if it lasts.....
Does anyone know where I can get plastic hose clamps? I looked online at home depot but they didn't have any. I have a metal hose clamp on my pump-hose connection and am worried about it dropping heavy metals into the system. I know this may be stupid, but could using a zip tie and getting it really tight work?
I don't have a tie on my pump end but do on the overflow end. I was thinking that since it wasn't actually building up pressure (output is open) that it wouldn't need a clamp if it fits snugly.
Alrighty! I filled it with water and no leaks! The pump works good, but I will need more circulation within the tank (I knew this, but I was hoping it would be more). Any suggestions? I will try to get someone to donate this, but if I cant what is a cheapish brand? I want some Ecotechs, but I aint got no money for that!
What do yall think of this? https://www.amazon.com/SongJoy-Circ...85524&sr=8-4&keywords=aquarium+powerhead&th=1 Also here are some shots of the tank with water. The light in the sump will be gone when we get the sand and rock in on monday!
I have a couple cheap jebaos ... the wavemaker is actually not bad and not too expensive. Adjustable flow and feed mode. And I just looked and it seems they have a replica pump for a bunch of different models. This is they style I've got ... Jebao PP-4 530-1000 GPH Wavemaker with Controller and Magnet Mount https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0192HNEEA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_hY0CzbBZQ84WX I've had it since December and it seems to be working well. I've used it in a 29 cube as well as in my 85 gallon reef along the back wall for extra circulation.
Alright! I know I have been slacking with the posting, but I just went through a really bad break up and haven't had time to post. Anyway.... Carib Sea graciously donated sand and rock and we have been up and running for about 2 weeks now. I used the water from the nano cube to jump start the cycle. I imagine we will be able to add fish soon. I really like the look and setup of the build. Tell me what you think.
I think the tank is about ready for livestock to go in. Still don't have a skimmer, but who needs one of those? LOL I am still trying to get a company to donate one.
Oh, it has been cycling for way longer than that. I just forgot to post right when I got it set up. I got it set up early july.
Im thinking a pair of clowns, a shrimp goby pair, and maybe a flame angel... What do yall think? Is a 40 to small for a flame?
