I know they were freebies but I stand behind my coral. If you lose one let me know. I will replace it if I have a replacement available.
They are looking good John. The bird's nest appeared a little bleached at first, but I bumped the gyre up 10% and BAM! Polyp extension on the poci began immediately. A day later, the birds nest has polyps where there were none, on that white-ish branch and nice extension over the whole coral.
I brought the tiny frags on rocks. John brought the large pieces. Mine were casualties of the tank move so I figured I'd share them.
That's crazy, but gives me some hope that mine that were damaged will be able to heal. Also, John, is it ok to furan dip the birdsnest and pocillopora? I've got a couple that look like they have that brownish fungus crap the zoas get on them. I want to knock it out before it destroys the whole thing! I've also got some zoas to dip for fungus. If I dip the sps first, can I use the same water to dip the zoas after?
These were not yours! I didn't take any of yours since I already had several from the new tank purchase. I don't know when it started ... if it was there when I got them or while in temporary housing with less than optimal conditions. Just wondering if I can fix it now before it gets worse. Now, the new zoas I got MAY have a bit of zoa pox on one of them. I did see some tiny white dots when dipping and inspecting.
And for those of you who didn't believe John when he talked about the sweeper tentacles (because like where do they even keep them? They look so smooth!) take a look at this video I took last night after lights out. Neither are the club corals but I was shocked to see just how many and how long they were!
Watch a video of a Galaxea Coral. Those things pack a punch and have a long reach. Highly aggressive little things.
So this batch of zoas is much happier than last month's batch (at least so far!) and I'm so excited to see them opening and looking happy already! They've been dipped with whatever John used before we got them, dipped in coral Rx and furan 2. They are currently in quarantine awaiting more furan dips. I'm not certain, but pretty sure that I saw some zoa pox on one of the frags and had some of that brown funk on a different one (not club). Anyway, here they are.
Hiya, Kevin wanted me to pass along how much he enjoyed having us all there for the event. It was good to see some new faces and the food was good. He'll be happy to host another one next year, just let him know when.
I am glad to hear that. I was so busy cutting coral that I had no idea how well he did or didn't do. I was hoping that he did well and would want to host again.
My wife and I are about to purchase several fish and are looking at heading to Benton. He earned my business in a number of ways while we were there.
The falco hawkfish, sailfin tang, sand sifting starfish, and all coral that I purchased from Kevin at paradise pets are healthy and happy. I'll be making a trip again to browse his reef gen coral.
