Hello all. As the title says, I am located in the Cabot area and I am new to the saltwater hobby. I bought my first saltwater tank at the end of last year. I am coming up on the 6 month mark with fish and invertebrates only and I purchased a couple of small coral frags from The Fish Tank and now I'm finding myself getting addicted. I wanted to try to get involved with others that might be able to share some wisdom and open some additional avenues for buying new tank enhabitants. I look forward to learning all I can from all those that will share.

Welcome Brandon what size tank and what kind of inhabitants? You should start a build thread.

  5. Welcome! I am also out of Cabot. I joined the group in November and it was the single best move I've made in the hobby. Everyone has been super nice and there is a wealth of knowledge in the group. The meetings are great and the frag workshops are awesome. Hope to see you at a meeting soon.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I am not sure why some of the pictures are sideways.... My setup is pretty small right now, but here is how I ended up where I am today. The first tank was a 3 year old Fluval Spec V. I immediately wanted something a little bigger, but I was too blasted impatient to get a long term tank setup. I bought a 20 gallon hexagon tank and started it along side the established 5 gallon.

In the 5 gallon tank I have just a single 6 line wrasse. He would live in the hex tank except he was trying to pluck the eyes off of all my snails o_O

In the hex I have a yellow clown goby, clownfish, and a dartfish/firefish. I have a handful of different snails, hermits, and a emerald crab. I only jumped into the coral around 2 weeks ago, so my coral game is lacking, haha. I have a tiny frogspawn frag, a wonky rock with green star polyps and a small frag of pink cabbage leather.

I am hoping to get into something along the lines of a 50-60 gallon cube for a more sustainable situation...I just have to get the wife onboard with tanking up more of the dining room....

Thank ya, sir. The tank itself is neat, but doesn't let itself well to any accessories or a decent stand. The only stand I could find was too short for my tastes and really didn't fit the bill, so I ended up building my own. 20170130_215322.jpg 20170122_212417.jpg 20170128_130054.jpg 20170129_140942.jpg

Hi! I'm in Benton, which isn't real close, but welcome! I agree, nice carpentry skills! I like that big branchy rock in the long tank too!

I appreciate the props for the stand, it really came out better than I would have expected for my limited craftiness. I unfortunately won't be able to attend Saturday, but I will be looking forward to the next one that gets planned.
