Anyone tried a plankton reactor?

  1. I'm trying to figure out how to grow plankton and brine shrimp for my nanocube. Has anyone tried a plankton reactor?

Never used one but you probably don't need one. If you're going to feed brine shrimp you should feed them as they hatch. Only the newly hatched brine shrimp have significant nutritional value. Usually the places that sell the eggs have kits for hatching the eggs that they sell.

Reefmann used to grow his own phytoplankton in his garage. I think he's still in the hobby and on the forum.

I don't know anything about the plankton reactor but for hatching brine shrimp all you need is a 2 liter bottle , airline, air pump, and a light source. A table lamp works fine for the light. I hatched a lot of brine when I had my sea horses.

  5. Do you have a photo of your diy hatching setup? Thank you!

Sorry but no. It has been 5 years since I had the need for one. There are several different versions on YouTube. And they are really easy to make.
