I totally agree with @Will. I have somehow convinced my wife to come to it...not sure how but it happened....
Wow! There will be a ton of coral to choose from! Decisions decisions! And wow at the raffle items! Man I wish I had a money tree out back!
Hey, I just ordered a new bottle of refractometer calibration solution because somehow the lid came off of my old bottle ... anyway, I can bring it if anyone wants to check their calibration.
Haha. I would love that, but I've brought her along to window shop at the local stores and she has not enjoyed it very much. Maybe once I get her a "nemo" (freakin nOObs) she will get interested. She wanted a "Dory" and then I had to be the bearer of bad news that our tank wont support that.
The wife and I are coming for sure, and we'd be glad to bring something if needed. I got a look at a few of the corals this past weekend, looking forward to it!
There are refractometers that are made to be calibrated with RO/DI but most are not. It's almost always best to calibrate in the range you will be measuring. If you think about it, if you keep your tank at 1.026 and use 1.026 calibration fluid, there is no real way for the device to be inaccurate. That same principle applies for SG near that of natural sea water. I have two refractometers. One measures spot on with RO/DI, the other does not.
I might be cooking. Let's see, I added 1.5 cups of ground coffee, 1.5 cups of brown sugar, 3 tbs salt, pepper, garlic, chili powder, 1 tbs fennel seeds, onion powder, and 1.5 tbs anise seeds into a bowl and vigorously mixed. ;-)
Neighbors are emerging due to smoke coming from the backyard. At first the looks are the annoyed, what is THAT? That quickly transmogrifies to Whaaat is thaaaat?!?!?!?
The wife volunteered to make some Cole slaw to go with the pulled pork, so I'll feel like I'm contributing.
Thanks to all for coming to Reef Fest! John did a great job fragging all the corals! Thanks also to the Fish Tank for being such hospitable hosts. Please share pics of your corals!
Yes! Thanks to The Fish Tank @TFTank for hosting (and having beautiful livestock), John @Deton8it for fragging (and giving advice on which corals to choose), and to Kevin @Fishbait for cooking another delicious meal! I had a great time and got to talk to just about everyone there. Thanks y'all!
