I agree with John. I posted the picture on R2R to see if the hitchhiker gurus there could help. Really cool on the pom pom crab! I want one of those guys some day.
The word is it's a Epitonium species that is predatory on corals. Good call on ditching it! Scroll down to Snails...epitonium http://www.lionfishlair.com/hitchhikers-guide/
Hiya, I have two cucumbers in my tank. Really need to find a home for one...that is if I can catch one of them. I've never had an issue with mine, they're nocturnal. Maybe leave the lights out for a day or two to see if it adjusts. Mine usually crawl for cover when I turn my lights on...so he might not be doing well.
I added a second fish today...a matted filefish. He's the cutest little fella! Hes been slurping up pods all evening. He's resting right now. At least that's what I think he's doing. He's clamped his little mouth on a halimeda tip positioned in the safe eddy of the hammer coral and he's just floating there. Chillin. When I get close he starts waving his little fins and looks up at me. Do any of your fish anchor themselves to "rest"?
My 6 line wrasse goes in his cave at lights out and stays put til morning. The clown usually tucks into the hammer but it's closed mostly at night so I'm really not sure what she does when all ambient lights are out when I go to bed. The Coral Beauty sleeps under a big rock in the back that sort of has a natural cave under it. I usually see him waving back and forth in the current though, so I'm not sure if he gets much rest or if he moves to a different spot. Maybe I should try to reposition a power head to make it a little less flow there at night.
