So I'm trying to decide what to do with the tank I won today. One idea I'm entertaining is maybe housing a large carpet anemone and pair of clownfish. Anybody got any suggestions? It also has a metal halide light, which I've never used before. I've only used led, so I'm interested in seeing the difference. I know a lot of people in the hobby recommend them even over led. I like that idea! Have you seen the red haddoni? I've always wanted one.

  3. You are one lucky fella! Are you sure I can't take you with me to purchase my next lotto ticket? I can't wait to see what you do in your 29g cube!

Jason, I was thinking either a red or blue one. I'm thinking that I read the red ones were insanely expensive. (Like $500). But if I am going to house only one large invertebrate in a tank, it has to be something outstanding, which a red one is.

Natalie, we can try it, but the few times I played, I didn't win. Maybe this is the week to buy a PowerBall ticket.

I have ran halides before, I'm my experience softies and some lps don't fare very well depending on intensity of the light. But an anemone might do well.

I'm thinking just the anemone in this tank. I was going to maybe grow some neon gsp on the back glass. I wasn't sure about maybe adding some bubble tip anemones at the top of the rock work. I thought about zoas at the top, but they probably wouldn't like the light. I d9nt know about adding any sps yet. I was kinda not wanting to worry so much about calcium and alkalinity dosing.

I'd try it and see how they do you never know. Maybe you could drop some in there you already have and see if they close up. If so you could just take them out and put them back. Just an idea.

I figure I'll do the gsp on the back wall for sure. And at the top of the rock work I'll do either zoas or bubble tip anemones. But it'll be either a red or blue carpet anemone. I know green is more common, but not what I'm wanting.

Those are awesome! But I think the reds are super hard to keep. I don't have very much luck with anemones though. Lol

So the Diver's Den has my carpet anemone-- only $800....

I like the blue ones too. I'll just have to see what's available. Going to start with rock and sand first. Get some water in it, and let it start cycling.

So has anybody ever kept a carpet anemone? What size sand should I get? I've used fine sand (like sugar) and hated it because it blew around. I mainly use the large size sand in my tanks. But does anybody know what size would be best for the anemone? I can't find any info using Google. A lot of places are doing Black Friday sales this week, so I figured it was a good time to buy some of the basic stuff for this tank.

This is what I'm talking about-- although I don't think I can fit all that in a 29 gallon. But maybe one carpet, and a couple of anemones on similar rock work.

So I just dropped like $700 for equipment for this new tank. (Some for my other tanks too). But hopefully I'll be cycling this tank in the next week or so. I'm going to go with a single mp10 for the flow in the tank for now. I've decided that I'm going to put either a red or blue haddoni anemone in this tank, and build around that.

It's grey. The wall behind my 93 gallon I painted solid black. I think they look good against the color of the tanks.

    Hiya,

Kewl! I've toyed with the idea of getting a maxi mini, but I'm afraid it'll just cause havoc.

I've never had any problems with the one I have. Kinda like a big ricordea or Yuma.
