Internet is really slow here but will try to post some pictures now and some video when I get back. This is a couple of yellowhead wrasse. Not sure if this is aggression or courting behavior. A squirrel fish among a pretty collection of hard and soft coral (tons of seafans and gorgonians here) A nurse shark that wanted to get in my wetsuit. GoPro makes it look a few feet away but I could have stuck my hand in its gills easily.
Couple of videos. First is at Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark/Ray Alley (a narrow chute through the reef where local conch fishermen used to clean their catch), second is Lighthouse Reef near the Blue Hole.
Sorry it will only allow one video per post.
I know the video does not do it justice. Glad you are having a good time. (you are missing all the sleet and snow back here). Wish I were there with you and your wife. Soak up some sun before you come home. Thanks for the pics and video's.
A few more with some interest for aquarists. These two monti's were beautiful. The one on the left was about 3' across the one on the right about a foot. Spainish Hogfish. Not sure what the hard coral pictured is. Any guesses? Several different encrusting hard corals, several plating monti's (not as colorful as the others), two types of macroalgae. If you look at it in full screen and blow it up how many fish species can you see? (hint, two species of tangs, one butterfly, two damsel family, two wrasse family...and probably some I didn't see)
Anyone know what the blue striped fish at the back of the maze coral is? They don't get too big from what I could tell and would love to have one in my tank. Some cool larger critter pics. Eagle ray Nurse shark/pilot fish close up
Getting some videos edited. Reef sharks
Night dive in Hol Chan Marine Reserve
Got another short video edited. This is a swim through with the entrance depth 97' according to my dive computer. The DM said the school of fish were silversides. Lots of predator tank food!
